Homey Day 1

🏠 Homey gives you one of the best smart home interfaces available, but you may not need a $450 Homey Pro to use it.

In this episode, I install Homey Self-Hosted Server on my UGREEN NAS and build the foundation for a robust Matter smart home using hardware I already had. I’ll cover the devices that can run it, the Homey apps worth installing first, how existing hubs and Matter Bridges replace many of the missing radios, and what happens when I add a Matter-over-Thread device using my existing Apple Thread network.

This is Homey Day 1, the second episode in my Matter and Homey trilogy. In the finale, I’ll use this system to start automating.
