It’s time for The Big One! The August 2026 feature drop, one of the last before version 26H2, is coming soon to Windows 11 version 25H2 + 24H2 (KB5120998 – OS build 26200.9273 and 26100.9273 – Release Preview has 26200.9267 and 26100.9267) with some of the most notable K2 improvements yet.
The trinity of major K2 features is here – for Taskbar, you can finally move your taskbar to the top, left and right hand sides of your screen! You can also enable a small taskbar to make more room for apps. The Start menu has been improved with the ability to turn off the Pinned, Recent (formerly Recommended) and All Apps sections, and choose from a small or large Start menu instead of auto-sizing. The Recent list is also more relevant and you can now turn off recent files in Start without having to turn them off in jump lists or File Explorer.
